Thank you for showing interest in our graduate program. If you are seriously considering applying to our graduate program starting this upcoming August and want a quick acceptance/decline offer, then please e-mail the following information to Dr. Thibado (thibado@uark.edu):
- College transcripts
- GRE general test scores (if available)
- GRE physics subject test scores (if available)
- iBT TOEFL scores (if your native language is not English)
There is no deadline; however assistantships are given out as applications are received.

Minimum Requirements for Admission
Regular Graduate Assistant
12 month salary is $19,600 and, in addition, your tuition is paid by the department
(Note, regular graduate assistants are guaranteed to be paid $14,700 for 9 months. Summer support is also available which can raise your annual pay up to $19,600 for 12 months).
B.S. degree (preferably in physics) with a GPA of 2.7
All non-US Citizens must have an iBT-TOEFL score of 80, with a speaking score of 26.
Minimum Requirements for Fellowships
- Students with a Doctoral Academy Fellowship
12 month salary is $24,700 and, in addition, your tuition is paid by the department- Entering with a B.S.:
- GPA of 3.3 overall and 3.6 in physics and math
GRE General Test Scores of 1100/1600 (verbal plus quantitative), 5.0/6.0 (writing) - Entering with a M.S.:
- GPA of 3.65 in M.S.
GRE General Test Scores of 1200/1600 (verbal plus quantitative), 5.0/6.0 (writing)
- Students with a Distinguished Doctoral Fellowship (University deadline for all materials is February 1, each year, applicant must be a US citizen)
12 month salary is $34,700 and, in addition, your tuition is paid by the department- Entering with a B.S.:
- GPA of 3.5 overall and 3.8 in physics and math
GRE General Test Scores of 1200/1600 (verbal plus quantitative), 5.5/6.0 (writing) - Entering with a M.S.:
- GPA of 3.8 in M.S.
GRE General Test Scores of 1300/1600 (verbal plus quantitative), 5.5/6.0 (writing)
